Most companies and organisations are too busy with day to day activity and are beginning to find that they can no longer keep up with the demands of their business without needing to expand their staff and/or infrastructure. One of the prime areas that are often affected is Human Resources. In the past, many organisations have failed recognize the far reaching effects that a lack of Human Resource support could have on their business, and as a result have been faced with poor performance and disgruntled staff and the poor organizational growth that comes hand in hand. The upside is that organisations who, in the past could not afford to implement and sustain a HR department, now have the opportunity to outsource human resource tasks to an outsider of the company. In addition, the range of HR services available is widening, and now all sizes of business are catered for, even those with fewer than 20 staff.

This is excellent news for small businesses that are looking to grow and have long term support structures in place and it is for this reason that the Human Resources Department is now one of the mostly outsourced businesses in the market.

Until recently companies who outsourced only did so with areas of business such as payroll and benefits administration. However, it has now become a trend, that they outsource all HR activities including business processes and management of employees. Encompassed within this area are also the functions of recruitment and the assessment of departmental needs such as allocation and placement of employees’ in particular departments and staff motivational training and career development programs.

The area of Human Resources and the capacity for organisations to outsource this area is extensive, and any organisation considering outsourcing their Human Resources should consult with an industry professional about the best approach for them to ensure the exact needs or your organisation are taken into consideration.

Outsourcing your Human Resources can also save your business a lot of money in both the short and long term. Many outsourced human resource service providers will charge less for the tasks they perform for you that it would cost to take on a full time employee or sustain a full department in your company, this in itself has been a core driver in the growing popularity of the service. Through outsourcing, companies are able to focus on their principal areas of product and service delivery, while having peace of mind that their staff and business systems are being looked after as they should be.

Cloud computing is an emerging trend of online file access being used by businesses worldwide. It creates a virtual space or cloud of company files and applications, which have can be used by the employees from anywhere. It requires a subscription which allows the businesses to utilize the services of a provider to organize installations and data customizations. Everything is ready to use once logged in.

Using a centralized server brings down the expenses, as it eliminates the need to buy multiple software and maintain the hardware needed to run local servers. Clouds may be private, which limits the server access to a particular group, public, which can be used by any user logged onto the internet or virtual public, where a private cloud of services is attained by using public resources. High speed internet has been one of the primary factors which spurred the growth of cloud computing.

Based on how it works, cloud computing services can be classified into:

1.Software as a service (SaaS): In this type, registered software applications are managed by the provider. Browser based access allows individual applications to be used by the customers without bothering about licensing or server expenses.

2.Platform as a service (PaaS): In this type, working platforms are managed by the provider to run and develop business applications. It is built so as to support all stages of creating a web application online, without additional software needed in local computers.

3.Infrastructure as a service (IaaS): This type can be considered as an enhanced version of web hosting. Virtual servers along with related data and equipment can be purchased on a per-use basis.

Even though the end users did not have to worry about installing and managing the applications which they were not familiar with, this approach did have some problems. Instances of changing company requirements proved too complex for what the providers had to offer. Some classified company data were too confidential to be exposed outside the local firewall. The alignment of cost per usage in such cases did not suit the company’s business plan.

An efficient method was required, which allowed a more flexible usage of services and the applications to be easily deployed in the new platform provided. This was solved by using virtualization as a part of the cloud approach. It made the applications function independent of the infrastructure. Several applications could utilize a particular server and run on any system which needed them. The application needs to be virtualized for this capability, which basically means making them self sufficient. The operating system, middleware and related databases combined with the application constitute the entire package. Such a package does not have its applicability restricted to the provider or the end user’s system. It runs on the cloud which is made available online and charged by the duration and amount of usage.

The power of cloud computing lets your businesses have any application start running in a matter of days. The subscription fees are nothing compared to amount of money you will save from not having to buy expensive business software and hiring experts to get them started.

The cloud, cloud hosting or cloud computing is rapidly becoming a buzzword in business circles. Many argue that it will revolutionise the hosting industry but what is it and what are the kind of advantages it can offer businesses?

Cloud hosting is essentially when website is operated on multiple servers in contrast to being hosted on one single server as is the case with more traditional techniques. It offers a range of distinct advantages, not least the practically unlimited processing power of a multiple server solution.

The ability to change the processing power to suit the immediate needs of a website is one of the most touted advantages to utilising cloud hosting. Scalability, also referred to as “elastic capacity” means that as demand changes, the server resources can be adjusted to meet this demand. This elastic capacity in itself offers a range of benefits to businesses.

As a result of the scalability of cloud hosting companies can save a great deal financially. These savings are extrapolated in a number of ways. Firstly, due to the limited hardware resources, service users do not have to pay for infrastructure and hardware they are not using; this works out much cheaper as in the past companies had to install hardware just in case spikes occurred, with using the cloud however it is possible to allow for these spikes without the need for investment.

Money is also saved because the majority of service providers calculate their charges on the principles of data transfer and web site requests. This type of pricing can work out much cheaper and is also a simple and easy to understand.

The technology is easy to implement as frequently it can deployed remotely. Additionally as there are no hardware or software costs the implementation investment is dramatically reduced.

Funds are also saved in relation to the time spent on management of the system. Not only is implementation faster than other forms of hosting but the remote handling of the system and automation means that less man hours must be devoted to hosting management. This once again frees up internal resources helping to save money in the long run.

The information above is by no means a comprehensive list of the benefits provided by cloud hosting. It has however hoped to point out that businesses can utilise this highly flexible and scalable solution to save both time and money.

Cloud based computing and sharing of information is a very exciting new era for IT. These cloud-based technologies will definitely be the future.

However, when it comes down to it, your business is your livelihood and we need to take a cold and hard look at these applications and decide whether the technology is stable and mature enough to support us effectively.
Question: First, we must ask ‘Why do you want to move to the cloud?’. You might think that the answer is obvious. However, have a think about it seriously and note down all of the reasons why your office server can’t do what you need it to. The answers to this question will be very important collectively they will determine the most appropriate systems to consider.
Decisions: Assuming that the issues raised by the above question can’t be resolved by a change to the existing server setup, we then need to consider the technical positives and negatives of the available systems and decide whether the pros out-weigh the cons.
New Technology: It is extremely important to note that, although individuals have been using some of these newer cloud-based systems for a while now, scaling these systems up to cope with multi-user and sharing is still quite new and is often not without issues.
Excitement vs Disaster: To a certain extent, your job as a customer is to get excited about the new technology but my job is to try and anticipate all of the ‘what if’ scenarios. I need to do my best to prevent any issues. These may range anywhere between major system restrictions and unforeseen events.
Backups: Traditional backups systems involve taking a copy of your data away from where it naturally resides on a regular basis and ensuring that this happens. There is an argument to say that if the data lives in the cloud, then copying the data to your own laptop on a regular basis would be considered to be an off-site backup. However, this can be flawed by un-monitored (by me) local system malfunction, human error and laziness. We need to consider ways of preventing data loss being made worse by these factors.
Setup & Migration Costs:Using new technology does come at a price. Not because we intend to add a premium but simply because there are more unknowns associated with a project which is un-proven and which could add delays or expense related to producing work-arounds. Wherever possible, we will attempt to anticipate the pitfalls in order to budget for a solution but this is definitely something to bear in mind.

Selecting a Cloud Based Solution

Selecting the product that best fits the business model can be quite difficult. Products that have been around for a while tend to have a better support network around them from other users. However, newer products may claim to suit your needs better but may not necessarily have an established support network. Choosing the wrong product can be a costly exercise especially if you are forced to switch to a different product later.

If an established product doesn’t quite fit your needs, it may pay you to wait for future enhancements to the product rather than go off in search of an obscure system with little or no support.

Arguably, currently the most popular cloud-based solutions for file sharing and email:

Dropbox
Easy to use. Lots of people use it making it fairly easy to find support. Sharing is possible although setting permissions is a very manual process and you can’t set different permissions on sub-folders. Some folder manipulation tasks are difficult or tedious. One large premium Dropbox account could be shared with several free Dropbox user accounts in order to save money. Proper reliable automated backups could be an issue due to Dropbox being an application rather than a service.

Gmail
Possible alternative to Exchange. Cost is about 30 – 40 per user per year. Sharing is possible. Tasks, Notes and some other bits don’t sync with Outlook. This is just for Mail, Contacts & Calendars. Excellent spam filtering – Among the best in the world. Email ‘Search on server’ function on iPhone doesn’t work, doesn’t appear to have ever worked and I’ve seen no sign of a fix. So, if you’re looking for an old email then you’ll have to wait until you can get to your laptop. Extremely poor support. Google is renowned for offering promises of good support but actually failing to deliver anything at all. I suggest you should consider support from Google to be non-existant. Proper reliable automated backups could be an issue.

You probably know that all US states have different minimum coverage amounts that are required to be carried within the driver’s insurance policies. And depending on where your car is registered you will have to meet these requirements. What happens if your policy has coverage amounts lower than the required minimum? That depends on the state you drive in. But usually, in case of an accident if the authorities learn that you have coverage below the minimum amount you can face a penalty or even taken into custody. So, in order to avoid that, here are the minimum requirements of coverage state by state:

Alaska 50/100/25
Alabama 20/40/10

Arkansas 25/50/15
Arizona 15/30/10
California 15/30/5
Colorado 25/50/15
Connecticut 20/40/10
Delaware 15/30/5
Florida 10/20/10
Georgia 15/30/10
Hawaii 20/40/10

Idaho 20/50/15
Illinois 20/40/15
Indiana 25/50/10
Iowa 20/40/15
Kansas 25/50/10
Kentucky 25/50/10
Louisiana 10/20/10
Maine 50/100/25
Maryland 20/40/10

Massachusetts 20/40/5
Michigan 20/40/10
Minnesota 30/60/10
Mississippi 25/50/25
Missouri 25/50/10
Montana 25/50/10
Nebraska 25/50/25
New Hampshire 25/50/25
New Jersey 15/30/5

New Mexico 25/50/10
Nevada 15/30/10
New York 25/50/10
North Carolina 30/60/25
North Dakota 25/50/25
Ohio 12.5/25/7.5
Oklahoma 10/20/10
Oregon 25/50/10
Pennsylvania 15/30/5

Rhode Island 25/50/25
South Carolina 15/30/10
South Dakota 25/50/25
Tennessee 25/50/10
Texas 20/40/15
Utah 25/65/15
Virginia 25/50/20
Vermont 25/50/10
Washington 25/50/10

Wisconsin 25/50/10
West Virginia 20/40/10
Wyoming 25/50/20

The numbers refer to bodily injury and damage liability limits to be carried by the car insurance policy. The first number is the limit of injury liability per person. The second number is the injury liability limit per accident. And the third number refers to damage liability amount. And if the property damage limit is pretty evident, needed to pay for any damage to property or infrastructure delivered by your vehicle during the accident, the first two limits need a more detailed explanation. Let’s take an example from Alaska – 50/100. The first number means that a person injured in the accident that gets covered can receive up to $50,000. The second number refers to the total injury car insurance coverage per single accident. If there are two persons in the car who sustained damage they will receive up to $50,000 each (a total of $100,000). But if there are 3 or 4 persons, the $100,000 will be distributed amongst them, making individual coverage limits lower. In case all the persons require maximum per capita coverage of $50,000 the first who file for it will get it, and the other ones will be covered by the policy of the car owner who was at fault during the accident.

In every industry where outsourcing is present, it is widening in scope at a very fast rate. It’s not only for the reduced cost that attracts many business owners to outsource several functions to a third party but rather with the wide range of skilled and specialized workforce. Indeed, in every aspect of the business, outsourcing seem to provide a better solution, if not the best.

It has been recognized that outsourcing is applicable not only for the large-scaled business alone but rather for the small and medium ones too. Logistics department is one of the many facets of today’s industry that outsourcing has come to terms with. As with many outsourcing disadvantages, finding the right service provider would prove to be the most challenging one. One wrong calculation and evaluation would mean tons of losses for the company.

There are service providers who are indeed composed of personnel that are specialized and skilled in certain fields.

Some would also benefit from the services that have been cultivated with experience which proves to be the greatest teacher. Although novice outsource service providers should be given a chance to develop their expertise, some thinks that it may not be too wise to allow their business to be the training ground. It has been practiced traditionally to cultivate experience and expertise for in-house staff, but it can be quite costly and this is where outsourcing becomes a more practical option.

Just take for example, the need to provide offices or infrastructure for in-house staff. The trainings does not come cheap as well. Therefore, in finding the best outsource company, what are the aspects that should be considered?

It’s always a debate to outsource or not to outsource. Primarily, when deciding on such aspect, it boils down inevitably to making several comparisons of the results that such can provide against in-house staff. Management are always faced with certain limitations among both divisions. There are certain advantages and disadvantages that can be listed down concerning in-house staff and outsource service provider.

If you choose to outsource, better consider several factors first before signing up a contract on such. Determine the amount of experience that their management has and how do they intend to grow the company, especially within the logistics field. It is very common for talented managers to work for the outsource industry since they are able to explore and truly put in their talents where its needed.

Know how they would be able to differentiate results and requirements. It is crucial for a service provider within the logistics field to have an analytical system and processes that would be able to deliver positive results at a time-efficient manner. Every minute is important even so in this ever competitive world of online business. A short span of time attributed to any forms of delays would surely make a great impact for the business. Outsourcing aids in overcoming these problems and stand by their commitment.

Organizations ponder no more about the benefits they would receive if they outsource their project. Days when people would turn a blind eye towards outsourcing are no more. Everyone wants results, everyone wants to make money and everything wants things done well and fast. Every outsourcing company across the world knows it, and the outsourcing services live up to those expectations most often. Hence, the concept works and has takers.

Clients reduce overheads and get free up resources. Capital expenditure gets minimized and investments made in fixed infrastructure are eliminated. Most importantly, you get to offload non core functions and get your guys to focus on core issues concerning the firm. If you pound them with such projects that should go to the outsourcing company, you are losing out on a lot of time and more importantly, you employees feel pissed off for being given second tier work. Outsourcing services also mean getting access to specialized skills. When you outsource, you do it to a firm which makes a living through this. It does the same thing 24*7, becoming an undisputed leader with time.

You do not have to train your people to do the assignment. It goes to a place, where people are already trained and get to work the moment they lay their hands on it. So you save money on training, and on control operations. It comes cooked, baked and finished. For some technical brains, here are some more benefits of outsourcing services. You level out cyclical and seasonal fluctuations, get rid of peak staffing anomalies and enhance efficiencies through economies of scale.

One common advantage that is well understood is the competitive advantage one gets through an outsourcing company. The edge is wonderful, for the project I taken over by a player with multiple years of experience in an industry where trends change every second day. So when a player survives for so long, one safely presumes his knowledge of the business would be cutting edge. The organization also gets to keep pace with changing trends and minimize impact the transitioning technology without altering the infrastructure.

There are many others as well. Most of them are repeated with twisted words, but more or less with the same essence. Someone running a multi-million dollar company will always know the advantages of doing this, and hence never shy from sending it to foreign shores. It is quite evident the company gets to save up on a lot of time, money, resources, manpower, brain drain etc. etc. These are well understood facts, because of which originally the concept of outsourcing took off and since has been only growing. You have projects and assignments, easy and complex in nature, being sent to foreign shores all the time.

The benefits cannot be downplayed, even if put through the harshest of criticisms. You can slowly dig out every benefit one by one and start tearing it apart, but you certainly cannot bury it anywhere for people will always find it out and believe in it. To conclude, the show has to go on.

Where overseas outsourcing has already gained a mature market, domestic outsourcing is gaining momentum for emerging nations like India where both the main business and the freelance contractor are located in the same nation. One of the primary reasons for outsourcing is to lower expenses in terms of labor, infrastructure and technology.

Though many domestic players have sprung up owing to the demand the ITES industry has, it is always necessary to know your vendors thoroughly before you could hook up a good deal for your outsourced projects. You can resort to the following points, in order to choose a better domestic outsourcing partner:

1. Work experience and credentials
The vendor that you wish to outsource your projects/domains should possess relevant work experience and credentials to support its credibility.

2. Reference checking
Reference checking has always helped to know a third party well.

Checking with the references can help you to understand the vendor’s capabilities properly.

3. Quality assurance
The vendor should be quality focused and these days many companies have adapted to standard norms and quality certification such as ISO 9001:2008.

4. Cost
If the pricing of any vendor I not cost-effective, then it primarily isn’t serving the purpose of outsourcing. Thus, gather price quotes from all vendors available and see at your convenience which budget suits you the most.

5. Contract terms or SLAs
The vendor must be committed to the Service Level Agreement or SLAs and must be clear in its contract terms. The contract must also provide flexible terms for both the parties.

6. Confidentiality
You must always ensure that the vendor has a well defined set of security policies in place.

How secure is your data at your vendor’s site and what measures are taken to keep data safe are the questions that must be asked to the vendor.

Other points that you can further consider are location of the vendor, additional resources and capabilities offered by the vendor, reporting methodologies, vendor processes, financial stability of the vendor and cultural similarity etc. All these points may help you in deciding your best domestic outsource partner.

The world of politics is never supposed to make any real sense. After all, once you pit people’s cherished beliefs against each other, passions are roused and the arguments soon become bitter. It would be better if everyone was just allowed to do what they wanted. But, when it comes to organising medical care for the population, it takes a government to put the right kind of infrastructure in place. People have to be trained as care givers. This takes years and costs a small fortune. Hospitals and clinics have to be built. And then we come to all the support staff who drive the ambulances, keep the places clean and keep the accounts. Ah, yes, the money. All of this work over years has to be paid for. So the $64,000 question is who should foot the bill? It’s at this point that emotions get in the way of common sense.

Talk to one side of the argument and they will tell you people who want access to medical care should carry private insurance. Talk to the other side and they will tell you the state should pay for the service out of the tax revenue. It’s never really clear why people disagree. Only people who are in work pay tax. Only people who earn can afford to pay the premiums on insurance. It’s the same money. The only difference is the way it’s collected – one as tax and the other as premiums paid to an insurance company. But wait! There is a difference! If the state collects in the money, it can use it more efficiently because, unlike the insurance industry, it does not intend to make a profit. So the only reason to support the current system is to allow the insurance industry to continue making an ever larger profit.

As the Senate is currently set up, forty-one senators can stop any reform. That’s forty Republicans plus one other. Yet when you look at the number of people these Republican senators represent, it’s only 36% of the US population. This is somewhat unfair. The party with the majority of representatives was voted in by 64% of the population. The Democratic platform could not have been more clear. It was to be reform of healthcare provision. Yet when you look at the media, all you see reported is the opposition to reform. The “tea party” movement captures all the headlines. But in all this, there is one really big irony that gets very little coverage.

The Republican senators may only represent 36% of the population, but they represent nearly 50% of the children without any health insurance and 42% of the adult population with no insurance. Despite the fact that half the uninsured children in the US are represented by the Republicans, their opposition to any reform that would give the children coverage could not be more aggressive. If we assume the outcome of the reform would be cheap health insurance for almost all US citizens, the Republicans are against it. Their policy is to keep the profits rolling in for the health insurance industry and, if the majority of the people who live in their states have no insurance, that’s just their bad luck. The US is genuinely a strange place. Despite the recession, it’s one of the richest countries in the world yet it has a political party determined to prevent its citizens from enjoying cheap health insurance. Sadly this party with the minority of votes in the Senate could get their way.

Cloud computing is a well known computing service which is totally based on the internet network. Basically in cloud computing, the mutual resources, shared data and software are made available to the computer systems and the other systems on their demand. You can easily recognize the cloud computing service as a paradigm of the shift of the data from the mainframe computer to the client and server. All the details are specially hidden from those users that do not have a control over the infrastructure of the technology in the shared cloud. Cloud computing is a phenomenon which is described to deliver a standard model to the IT services which are totally based on the internet. It provides a very easy and efficient way to access the remote computing which is provided by the internet. The key features which made the use of Cloud computing very much are mentioned below:

1. Agility
The access to cloud-computing is really very quick which made it the first choice of the users. Users can share the resources rapidly. Agility is one of the most important features of the Cloud-Computing.

2. Location and Device Independency
The most attractive feature of the cloud-computing is that, it is a fully location and device independent application. You can use any device for cloud-computing from anywhere throughout the world. You can either use your PC or your mobile for it, all you require is a web browser to access the content as the content can easily be shared with the help of the internet.

3. Multi-tenancy
Multi-tenancy enables the users to share the resources between large groups of users. With the help of this property the load capacity increases. It also helps in the utilizing the resources very efficiently. It enables the centralization of the infrastructure.

4. Reliability
The best feature of cloud-computing is that it improves the reliability in the condition when the numerous unnecessary websites are used.
